Satire has proven that it can push people over the limit. An example of this is the Charlie Hebdo attack. This attack was brought upon the satirical magazine, Charlie Hebdo, after the magazine published a cartoon referencing the Islamic prophet Muhammad. It resulted in controversy because people everywhere questioned whether or not it was right to make fun of groups of people from around the world. People wondered whether or not an attack like this was inevitable because of satirists line of work, and whether or not it was wrong to think that way.
Satirists should understand how their work can be offensive to people all over the world, and realize that there is a line that should be aware of. Crossing that line could potentially bring violence upon them, despite how every person is entitled to free speech. I think that satirists could go about their work in a different way so that they're still respectful of people's beliefs. The attack should be a lesson learned to all people that stepping over the line can result in horrible and unfair events. People need to be more lighthearted about issues around the world that will constantly be satirized no matter what. Violence should never be the answer.
